NFL Week 1 Fantasy Notes

As we did last year, we'll be bringing you our notes here from our FANTASYDRAFTHELP.COM INSIDER program (Thursdays, 9-11 PM EDT) to give you the game-by-game perspective on who are the good and bad marginal starters for each week. We will never insult your intelligence by telling you to play someone like Peyton Manning -- we limit our recommendations to the much less obvious decisions. Links for each game take you to detailed game previews on CBSSports.com with video previews available there as well.

ALL GAME TIMES EDT

Sunday, Sept. 9
Atlanta at Minnesota 1:00 pm Horrible fantasy matchup, but Horn is worth a look.
Carolina at St. Louis 1:00 pm Both Carolina RBs merit a start as they will get a lot of work.
Denver at Buffalo 1:00 pm The Cutler-Marshall battery should get off to a good jump start.
Kansas City at Houston 1:00 pm Another horrible fantasy game, but the overrated Green is good for a rare start.
Miami at Washington 1:00 pm The Green-Chambers combo will get a chance to get off to a good start.
New England at N.Y. Jets 1:00 pm Jet WRs may be a better-than-usual play, especially if New England pulls away.
Philadelphia at Green Bay 1:00 pm Almost no marginal fantasy plays here, but monitor Hunt for future vulture status.
Pittsburgh at Cleveland 1:00 pm Holmes will get a good chance to justify his sleeper status here.
Tennessee at Jacksonville 1:00 pm Yet another miserable fantasy matchup, but Young gets a chance to shine here.
Chicago at San Diego 4:15 pm Rookie Olsen could really surprise here and merits a start. Benson is not a good option.
Detroit at Oakland 4:15 pm Bell is a decent, not great, option as he tries to grab a permanent hold on the job.
Tampa Bay at Seattle 4:15 pm Williams will get a good chance to put the nightmare of '06 behind him here.
N.Y. Giants at Dallas 8:15 pm The overrated Jacobs needs a good beginning to the year, but may get it here. Contrary to many pundits, Romo is not an every-week fantasy starter yet but should get the nod here.

Monday, Sept. 10
Baltimore at Cincinnati, 7:00 This should be a shootout and Mason and Clayton are stronger-than-usual plays.
Arizona at San Francisco, 10:15 In the second wild game of the night, Smith is a strong play for Frisco.
